Ride+Stride 2024

Thank you so much to all those who took park in Ride+Stride last year and to all who opened their churches and put out signing-in forms and refreshments to welcome visitors. It was a beautiful day for riding and striding and we hope you enjoyed the day and managed to complete your routes. You raised almost £28,000 which was fantastic – and we are delighted to announce that the winner of the Daphne Barnes-Philips Cup (awarded each year to the church that raises the most money) was St Nicolas Church, Newbury. Congratulations to them.

The date for 2025 is Saturday 13th September and publicity posters and flyers will be available nearer the time. If you have any queries email the County Coordinator at rideandstrideberks@gmail.com.

Ride+Stride is the major annual fundraiser for the Trust and all support continues to be much valued this year as churches face difficult financial circumstances.

Ride+Stride is a nationwide church-crawl where you can visit as many (or as few) churches as you like on the second Saturday in September between 10am and 6pm. You can walk, run, cycle, ride or drive, following your own route and enjoy visiting some of our county’s fabulous churches. Sponsorship forms are available here or you and your supporters can donate via our GoodHub page here. We suggest that you set up your own fundraising page on GoodHub – look for the red ‘Fundraise’ button on our page and follow the instructions. This makes it easier for your supporters to locate your campaign.

And remember to state clearly which church you would like half of all the money you raise to be sent to (add an address or postcode – there are LOTS of St Mary’s!). The other half will go to the BHCT to help support other churches in need. Click on the drop-down menu above to see some suggested routes.

Any Christian church can apply to the Trust for financial help to maintain or improve the church building. Each year the Trust awards thousands of pounds worth of grants. Ride+Stride is just one way in which the Trust raises money to help them. The money you raise helps to save historic churches, chapels and meeting houses for future generations by helping to fund urgent repairs and the installation of modern facilities.

You can cycle, walk, ride or drive in aid of Ride+Stride – supporting your own church and the BHCT
